Editorial and Commenting Policy

The Southern Association for Women Historians strives to foster a scholarly community to share research interests, teaching ideas, syllabi, and commentary on a wide range of topics including: oral history, primary sources, teaching with films, technology, visual literacy, and service learning. Our editorial content will reflect these goals. All content posted to the site represents the opinion of the poster and not necessarily the opinions of either SAWH or the bloggers’ home institutions.

If you would like to contribute a post or an idea, please contact sawheditors (at) gmail.com

Comment Policy

After an initial approval process, which requires that the first comment from any user be pro-actively approved, we will not pre-moderate any comments and welcome all kinds of thoughts- supportive, dissenting, critical, or otherwise. All comments are solely the opinions of the individuals submitting them and their publication on this blog does not imply our endorsement or agreement.

We do not delete or censor comments unless they have content that:

  • is abusive
  • is off-topic
  • contains ad-hominem attacks
  • promotes hate of any kind
  • uses excessively foul language
  • is blatantly spam, advertising, or link farming

Please keep all comments civil, respectful, professional, and scholarly. If you disagree, do so in a respectful way, but be sure to backup your disagreement with facts.

All comments are filtered through spam filtering technology; the kind we use may vary over time. The spam-filtering technology isn’t perfect and from time to time it flags legitimate emails (false positives) or lets real spam through. We will do our best to release legitimate comments and hide spam.

In order to control spam, we may close comments on any post after a significant period (eg, 30+ days), but we reserve the right to close comments at any time, on any post, and for any reason. Additionally, our editorial and comment policies may be revised at any time, and we reserve the right to ban commenters who cannot adhere to this policy.

By posting your comments to the blog, you are granting us the right to use them. Your submission of a comment constitutes your acceptance of this comment policy.
